Originally from Virginia, Renae Martin McGuire resides in North Carolina with her husband, Tim and her gray Percheron cross horse, Louie. Renae attended Averett College for commercial and fine art, but her first career was as a full-time musician/vocalist, traveling as a singer/songwriter/musician for 11 years. She and Tim moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1992 where they performed as a duo and recorded. The wife of a producer friend ushered Renae into the growing Nashville visual art scene, and she worked with the Nashville Arts Foundation in the main gallery and the local artists gallery. Renae entered the fine art curriculum at Watkin's Art Institute there and re-discovered her love for painting. She joined VAAN (Visual Arts Alliance of Nashville) and Untitled (a creative, uncensored art group), and volunteered as a docent for the First Center for the Visual Arts. She opened "Gallery of the Tennessee Artist" in downtown Nashville and worked as a mural artist for her own company, "Interior Illusions". She had a number of group, solo, and gallery shows in the Nashville area, including the Madison Art Center, the Parthenon, 328 Performance Hall, 12th and Porter, Dreamworks Records office on Music Row, Mt. Juliet Library, and shows -"Artrageous", "Artopia", and "Hypnagogia". Renae and Tim moved to North Carolina in 2004.
