Artist Statement
With my work, I want to demonstrate that the techniques considered feminine hobbies of yesterday, can join their potential to create a beautiful piece of contemporary art. My brand name is Macraz. The name is coming from the union of Macrae, a Scottish name associated with qualities such as elegance, charm and serenity. And the “Z” letter that is part of my last name. My intention is that textile art overcomes frontiers of the artisanal and expresses its capacity to become a unique piece, capable of blooming into an object of art. My work is unique and original, I’m inspired by the magic nature and surrealism of Mexican culture. I only hope my work will stir your emotions, expand your thoughts, open your heart and allow you to see yarn and thread as new medium for artistic expression.
