MY BACKGROUND
My mother was a painter. She took evening classes. When I was 10 years old she said her teacher was looking for a young model and did I want to sit for the class. My answer was an enthusiastic "YES!" I marveled at how each artist in the class had their own individual interpretation of what they were looking at. It was then that I decided I wanted to be an artist.
MY MEDIUM
I use many different mediums, such as wax, inks, oils, acrylics, pencils, and pastels.
I also love collage.
I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style.
MY INSPIRATION
Looking at art always inspires me. I worked at The Metropolitan Museum of Art for many years and during my breaks I would spend time browsing the galleries. When I worked there, the museum was closed on Mondays. I remember spending hours just lying on the floor at the deKooning exhibition as if wrapped in a warm colorful blanket of great painting.
