Hi, I'm Audrey Allen, an abstract artist originally from Lexington, North Carolina, now residing in Monroe, North Carolina. My artistic journey began as a little girl, surrounded by a lineage of artists, including the renowned Maud Gatewood. Taking many art classes as a child, I fell in love with the creative process early on.
After graduating from high school in 2014, I set out to pursue my passion for art. However, life had its own plans for me. I became a mother to a beautiful daughter, which led me to put my artistic ambitions on hold to focus on my growing family. A few years later, I had a second child, and amidst the joys and challenges of motherhood, I found a new kind of inspiration. During this time, I also got married, and my family became the cornerstone of my life.
Despite the busy and fulfilling life as a mother and wife, my passion for art never waned. An new and exciting chapter arose as one of the owners and manager of Presson Gallery in Monroe. I decided it was time to pick up my paintbrushes again. I have the privilege of curating and showcasing diverse artworks, including my own. This role allows me to fully immerse myself in the art world, fostering a vibrant community of creativity and expression.
I explore the intricate balance between composition and meaning, drawing inspiration from the complexities of life’s journey. My artistic process emphasizes harmony, using shapes, colors, and textures to create thought-provoking and visually engaging pieces. Though my journey has taken unexpected turns, each step has enriched my artistic vision and continues to inspire my creative endeavors.
